DESCRIPTION:Ostomate to Raise Awareness at Indiana Car Show!  \nRobert Steffens\, who has had IBD since the age of 15 and was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 40\, has had an ileostomy since April 18\, 2020. Although he was scared to have ostomy surgery\, he realized that not only did it save his life\, but it gave him his life back and he is no longer suffering.  Robert wants to bring awareness and help to reduce the stigma surrounding living with an ostomy and help to fundraise on behalf of UOAA. \nRobert will have a booth at a fun and popular Car Show – Tires-N-Tacos\, hosted by Fatt Boyz Car Club. It’s time to get your walking or running shoes on and plan to participate in UOAA’s 2nd Annual Run for Resilience Ostomy 5K in Rogers\, Arkansas on Saturday\, October 5th\, 2024. \nThis 5k Fun Run and Kids Fun Run/Dash will be held at The Railyard Bike Park located at 299 E. Cherry Street in downtown Rogers\, Arkansas. The course for this Fun Run will start at the Bike Park and will loop around the paved Lake Atlanta Trails. \nThis event is held annually to raise awareness of this life-saving surgery\, empower those living with an ostomy or continent diversion\, and raise funds to support UOAA’s programs and services. We hope you will join us as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary this year! \nThis Certified Run/Walk will take participants on the scenic American Tobacco Trail (ATT) over the 1-40 bridge. The out-and-back course will start and finish at the parking area at 8160 Renaissance Parkway in Durham\, N.C. This 5k course is flat except for one gradual uphill section on the ATT just south of the 1-40 bridge. This course is certified by USATF and is a timed race. \nThis event is held annually to raise awareness of this life-saving surgery\, empower those living with an ostomy or continent diversion\, and raise funds to support UOAA’s programs and services. Register by July 31st and you will receive your Race T-shirt and Bib EARLY! For those who take advantage of this early registration period\, you can expect to receive your T-shirt and Bib by the end of August or the beginning of September. Your name will also be entered into a drawing to receive a special Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k gift! \nSAVE $5 – REGISTER BY SEPTEMBER 6th!\nRegister by September 6th to receive your Race T-Shirt to wear on October 5th.
